Hata

Hata (幡), also known as Ban (ばん) or Han (はた・旛), is a tool derived from ancient Indian military flags, crafted from materials like cloth and hoisted high. Used in Buddhist rituals, the Nihon Shoki records that Silla presented Hata in 623. Hata served to adorn and make offerings to Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, symbolized the subjugation of demons, and was believed to bring good fortune when erected.
